Red face Are there any exceptions??

I am a fairly new shooter to the IDPA activities at Dumont. I have been regularly shooting at the Boulder Rifle Club for sometime now. Of course I did not mind taking the safety orientation class, very reasonable. My question about this topic is as follows. I want to bring a pal of mine to shoot this weekend. John Porter. John is kind of one of the progenitors of combat shooting, period. He, for example, began the BRC combat shooting program at the BRC 35 years ago. John has literally taught thousands of people to shoot. I have been going on at him about how much fun Several of us have had at the Dumont matches and I have pestered him enough that I think I can drag him along this weekend to the shoot, even though he dosen't like getting uo that early in the A.M. (Retired Marine, Retired generally) Is it possible to let John skip the crack of dawn safety class so I can get him up there OR do I have to find a way to coerce this Grumpy Old Man out of bed at the crack of dark to go through a lecture he's personally presented about a million times himself??? Help me help help me!!

The rules do have an allowance for people that have competed in IDPA or IPSC matches before.

I will toss this to the FR and Clear Creek Board Members and see what they think.

Personally, if I was trying a new game for the first time I would have no problem going to a class. Mainly to learn the ins and outs of it from someone that has been doing it for a while. I shot IPSC and Silhouette for many years and still took the IDPA class. Back then you had to pay for the class.

Bring him out early. The new shooter orientation will be good for him so he knows the rules before he competes, plus his first mach will be free, and when you bring him out early you get a discount for helping us set up the great stages. See its a bonus for everybody. See you on Sat.

Scores have been sent out and will be posted on the web site soon. Let me know if you didn't get them.

So what did you and John end up doing?

There was almost 50 people there this weekend. A great turnout and maybe a record turnout.

Kevin might not be on for a while, so I'll answer this one.

Kevin could not coerce John into getting up that early.
    Kevin showed up, John didn't.
