Default Why do people think it is ok to

Come on to your private property and open up the hood and start rummaging around your vehicle!

I finally had enough today. I have been in a class all week and today my son calls me to let me know that some guys are looking at the car and have already lifted the hood and took the oil dipstick out. WTF!

I told him to tell them to get off the property and not to touch the car unless I am around. I come home and find the dipstick bent because the a$$hat bent it when he forced it in and hurriedly slammed the hood.

I had enough and called the Sheriff and and waiting on them now. I want to press trespassing charges against them. This is the fourth time I have had something like this happen and I am sick of it. I am going to need to park it in the garage now and the wife will be pissed.

    Am I over reacting?

Is this a vehicle you're selling? How do they know where it is?

It is a 1969 Olds 442 with no for sale signs on it sitting in my driveway.

Usually workers from crews doing some jobs for neighbors.

    Ok, that's just weird.

Any way you can lock the hood on the car?

Wait so people just walk up and start dicking around with your car? Holy crap! I would go ape-poopy on them! And I don't even have a nice car!

^Me too. Why can't you just lock the car? They shouldn't be able to get under the hood without opening the hood release, which they wouldn't be able to access.

It is a 69 had and they had hood releases outside of the car (more trusting then). The doors are all locked and that did not stop some ahole from yanking on the doors one day to open it. That guy I almost took a ball bat to. I am just going to pull it in the garage and get it to the point where I will sell it. I don't want to drill holes in the hood and put hood locks on it as that will decrease the value.

They car only has ~85K original miles and is bone stock.

I would have calmly walked out holding one of my guns asking what they thought they were doing on my property.
