    Default 1911 conversions and parts ??

    can you convert a 1911 to another caliber ?
    are all barrels and parts interchangeable (could i but a colt barrel on a springfield ect.)?

    Yes and no. A very large book on this could be written but in the end it comes down to, It depends. Many things are the same and many are not. Also the big one is are we talking a std colt design or are we talking a ramped barrel design?

    The best thing is to tell us exactly what you have and what you are trying to do. In the end it will not be cheap unless you are trying to go from 38 super to 9mm or reverse.

    I have several 1911/2011s that are multi caliber guns.

    You need for the most part, new slide & slide guts, barrel, mags and sometimes a new ejector.

    I am slowly just building up complete frames to go along with the different top ends I have.

    I believe that you would have a lot of fun if you got a .22 conversion unit for your pistol. Look up Nighthawk Custom.
