I just did a little research on the cord that I have and it is made out of a specific nylon called cordura (nylon 66). Cordura has a melting temperature of 509 degrees. Now, I can see a barrel reaching that pretty fast if you are putting a lot of lead down range really fast, however, to get the air a half inch away from the barrel to reach that kind of temp is a little harder to do. I will do a little testing on this Monday when we are forging in class on our tool steel, if someone wanted to test this out tonight or tomorrow, that would be cool too. So, anyway, as it sits, I'm pretty sure the paracord is safe where it is as I am not going to be running that gun on full auto.

    Thank you Stag.

Spyder, clearly the answer is to just wrap the cord in aluminum foil.

Right. Just make sure the shiny side is out.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.
