When I was a kid I learned young how to handle firearms, teaching my kids the same. My 3 & 4 year old girls handle guns better than alot of adults. My 10 year old I would not trust wit a bb gun. Also I do not have a coat check,

I just had my Army physical last week, there was a survey thing I had to fill out that wasn't there last time but there was nothing about guns on it.

Not that it matters anyway, all of the guns I've purchased were BOS-less private party sales and all of the guns I used to own were lost in a horrific boating accident.
The Army did in 2007, I think its more for Mental Health, they are still wanting any soldiers at Carson to register your guns, and if you live on Post to put them in the Arms room.

A lot of it has to do with suicide scares.

My dad is the state Chaplain for the National Guard, and man, it's at least one death notification a month for suicide with a gun, sometimes up to 3.

NOT saying I agree with the policy of any branch of the armed forces to ask about your personal weapons, but this area of the Rocky Mountains has the highest suicide rate in the military out of any other zone.

However, a large amount of suicides don't involve any type of firearm, but I'm not going to get into that.

You need to use smilies when making jokes or injecting humor, or some members get all butt hurt.

And yes I missed the sarcasm/joke in that post. My bad.

Must be an AF only thing, or for some reason they aren't doing it on every physical, or something. Weird.

Hmm... maybe they ask it on the psych eval? Never had one of those.
I know they make you register your guns and store them on post... not happy about that.

I passed by this post numerous times without opening it up. I wish I hadn't because now I am pissed off. This is ridiculous whether the Dear Amy column is being pc or not. I would respond exactly the same way the guy in the article did, if I can't bring my gun then my family won't be coming.
