Default When is it concealed carry?

A little confused on when a CCW permit is required. Is it just when the firearm is accessible?

For example, lets say I am backpacking. Is it Ok to carry a loaded firearm in the backpack without a permit?

NO, not without a permit. In your car or house, no permit necessary. On your person, including in a bag...you need a permit to carry it concealed.

When is it considered "transporting" though? You can carry a pistol in your range bag from the car to the range. Is it because you are on their property? What if you are hiking into your shooting spot?

Intent. Unloaded gun, range gear + out in remote area is different situitation than carrying a loaded gun in a backpack on a populated hiking trail.

Firearm not visible and is readily available or on/or about your person == concealed.

So if your wife has a gun in her purse and you are standing next to her, and neither of you have a permit, you are both illegally carrying concealed.

If you get charged prosecution doesn't have to even prove intent.

Yep, that's why it is illegal to stand next to a police officer in Denver.
