Many folks seem to agree that the 452 & 453 .22LRs tend to be a little bit more accurate though I am sure the 455 can't be far behind.

There are still plenty of 452's available new. Bud's Gun Shop has the 452 Varmint Thumbhole stock for around $400.

I decided to go with a 25MOA base from DIP, Inc but the offset rings will work just as well.

I have had several folks laugh at me when I have told them that I like to shoot groups with my .22LR out to 300 yds. It's actually very doable with good ammo.

I have the same base, but it's not enough for 400m. At least with my scope. So I'm adding offset rings on top of it.

A lot of people underestimate the distance you can accurately shoot 22LR. It's easy to impress people in that regard.

It might be the use of subsonic vs. high velocity. Subsonics are far more accurate out to distances because crossing the speed of sound barrier twice tends to destabilize the bullet. Though I was recently shooting with friends and they were putting Win 555 bulk out to 300m with an old M69.
    Keep Calm and Carry.

I have a CZ 452 mannlicher. It's one of my all time favorite .22's to shoot.

That is a real fine looking stock.

All this 22lr distance talk is making me wish there was a .22lr steel dog match tomorrow. The next one is on Saturday, June 30, 2012, out at WHAC in Brighton. Bring those pretty rifles out and ring some steel.

Yeap & I will be bringing out my new 452 Varmint with a thumb hole stock. I just put a new scope on it and I haven't zeroed it yet. I guess I better do that before the 30th.

I made a mistake when I was adding events to the calendar. The Rim Fire Steel Dogs match is actually going to take place on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

...And yes, bring those .22LR blasters over and shoot some steel with us!!
