I've never EDC'd a fixed blade, but I always have my spyderco para military with me. The lockup is nice and solid. Ok, so I kind of lied. I used to carry a kabar TDI, but it kept holding up my shirt whenever I would lean over so I ditched it. I clipped it to my riggers belt at a 5 o'clock ish position.
Maybe you can try a kydex horizontal carry option for the ESEE in the 5-7 o'clock. That could be a nice little dish!
