Default I thought we didn't negotiate with terrorists?

Ok now we really have to get rid of BHO...
Soldier’s family reveals prisoner trade secretly discussed by U.S. and Taliban
The soldier was captured in June 2009 and is believed held by the Haqqani network, an insurgent group (Read: Terrorist organization) affiliated with the Taliban, probably somewhere in Pakistan.

Sgt. Bergdahl is the subject of a proposed prisoner swap in which the Obama administration would allow the transfer of five Taliban prisoners long held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to the AP.
The Obama administration had worked out a framework deal to send those prisoners to Qatar, where they would be under some form of loose house arrest or supervision, while Sgt. Bergdahl would be returned to the U.S. military.

"I'm pushing it hard," Bob Bergdahl said in the interview. "We started out by trying to encourage the Taliban to take care of our son. ... Now, we're worried that the government isn't concerned enough to put him on the (negotiating) table."
I'm sorry, but I thought it has long been the policy of this nation to NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS. I dunno about this young Sgt, but it was made plainly obvious to our unit (BDE level Platoon, not CO, not BN, but BDE!) that if you were captured the US Government does not negotiate and you should expect that you will not be released by some kind of "trade." Granted this does happen because the liberals pressure us to go against that, but really if I was in charge I would send these parents a letter saying "sorry about your son, but he knew very well what he was getting into when he signed that contract, no one forced him to join up, and it has long been the policy of this nation to not negotiate with terrorists."

"The revolution will not be televised... Instead it will be filmed from multiple angles via cell phone cameras, promptly uploaded to YouTube, Tweeted about, and then shared on Facebook, pending a Wi-Fi connection."
