I'm in full agreement to this sentiment. My daughter had her honeymoon in Mexico (Puerta something or other) last October. I tried and tried to get her to choose someplace else - nope! In the end she was safe, but it might not have gone that way.

Yeah, O'Reilly litterally laughed out loud and tore her a new one. It was fun to watch.

Mexico is divided into two places.

Traditional Mexico that is typically incredibly dangerous for almost anyone to be in, but specifically for Americans/Caucasians of any sort.

Then, there is the tourist part of Mexico that has been essentially purchased by various resorts and travel companies to resemble Mexico in flavor and mild appearance, but to hide the truth of the current political and economic state.

You CAN be safe in Mexico theoretically, but I have no desire to personally risk that.
Whenever my wife asks me why I never wear pants around the house I simply remind her:

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” - Winston Churchill

    The truth wears NO pants!

I lived 2 hours from Mexico for almost 15 years. I had friends go down to Rocky Point quite a bit with out too much trouble, but refused to go myself. Didn't feel the need. If I wanted a good burrito or cerveza, I could walk a half a block.

It is a problem, I feel bad for my family left in AZ. Won't be long before they are up here, hopefully. You can't even visit some of the national parks down there with out worrying about getting jacked. Tombstone is being persecuted with their lack of water. The gov't is really wrong on this border stuff. I do not seen any better way than raising and electrifying the fence. The citizen patrols are a good idea IMO.
