Most of it you won't be able to do much with. just check for ticks after you have been out, try to keep the 100% deet around at all times and be prepared to feel like you are always just getting out of the shower with your clothes on during the summer months. some places are downright miserable.

depending on the state, the hunting can be awesome, the bag limits can be really nice and a ton of the neighbors will be into the same thing!

85 acres in southern WV. I grew up there as a kid, so I know all about the hunting and shitty humidity. The bag limit is still 4 deer/year! I dont ever remember the ammount of bugs though. I grew up on a dairy farm that had been there for years, I was thinking the bugs might be bad because the land is all wooded and no people activity for a long time. The pond is FULL of crappie and large mouth though The bat house is a great idea, never heard of that before. There are lots of bats around already, so maybe bringing more in will help with the flying bugs.
