Ammoman.com screwed my pretty bad.
I thought this could be a way to
give my fellow gun owners a caution sign or a red flag when buying from him.

not every company is part of the BBB.... the plus is that they dont have any complaints![]()
I have seen first hand where a company has hundreds of complaints and is pressured by the BBB. The company becomes a member, buys the local BBB office new computers, and voila! The company couldn't have a better reputation.
The BBB is an absolute scam!
Word of mouth is probably a better guide. There are a lot of folks that have done business with Ammoman, including me. You can often find what he has for cheaper, but sometimes he has stuff you can't find from others.

he's burned a lot of bridges over at ARFCOM.
word to the wise!
stay with the big ones is my suggestion... aimsurplus rocks... sportsmans is slow but they have a 100% satisfaction guarentee no matter what... they say they dont take back ammo, but i had some .303 that didnt work and they took it back and gave me credit back to my card.... stay with the ones you know, and make sure you use your credit card so that if they scam you you can just file a dispute...
Sorry but I have to call BS on that as a business owner who knows first hand. First off the BBB does not take sides in any dispute they are a mediator. 2nd if you want to be a member your business has to have a clean track record and be in good standings. Last year alone over 1500 businesses in the Denver area were thrown out.Originally Posted by Gman
They do not EVER take business's with a bad record as members then make them clean. I am not a member however they call me regularly to try and get me to join. This is because I have a sterling record which is very rare for an auto shop. I am not saying they are the greatest thing since sliced bread but to claim what you did is completely false.

I had to spec out the 80 computers the company bought for the BBB. As a national provider, we were notorious for hundreds of billing complaints, particularly for not refunding prepayments. We became a member and were suddenly in good standing. I wouldn't have believed it, but I lived it. As with most things in this world, follow the money. The BBB is also not regulated or subject to oversight.
They tried to recruit you because they live on the membership dues paid to them.

i'm not going to pay a fee so a company, that has no idea what i even do, will recommend me. the BBB is a waste of time and money.
We belonged to the BBB years ago when my Dad ran the business.
We paid dues for years with no disputes, etc. We get a call one day from a BBB rep. The guy laid into my Dad. First wrong move. Dad doesn't like someone telling him how to run his business.
Turns out the customer had issues with the work performed on the car, and didn't even bother to contact us first! He called the BBB and the rep called us, threatening to remove us, etc... He didn't even get the full story from the disgruntled customer. Second wrong move. The BBB guy pissed my Dad off pretty bad. My Dad explained we never saw the car again, how could we fix what was never brought to our attention? We cancelled our membership immediately and never looked back.
A simple phone call to the customer fixed the problem, as he thought we charged him for something we didn't do.
So in a word, we paid hundreds of dollars over the years to be harassed.
We still have a clean record according to the BBB's website, after 31 years.
I got a call about a year ago from the BBB asking why we weren't a member, as we had a good rating. I told the woman our story, and she did acknowledge there were some issues in the past, and a lot of members left the BBB because of their past conduct. She promised it'd be different now. Yah, right.
I put the BBB in with Tom Martino. I have a problem paying someone to "recommend" me. That screams of conflict of interest.
The BBB will mediate problems, but they have no teeth in enforcement. They cannot force you to do anything. They will make suggestions, but it's up to the business to make the adjustment/repair, etc. Oh that's right, I do that already.
I don't know about buying a good rating, but knowing their past it wouldn't surprise me.
