We put these in the calf’s nose when we needed to wean them from their mothers.
Believe me; the mom cow would kick the snot out of them when they tried to suck.

A lot more weaners here than I would have thought.

These nose rings are for weaning calves. Clamp them to the calves' nose and when they go to feed on mom's udder, the spike poke her. Found them in a cabin, at a mill site, near Granite. Didn't find out what they were for years. Showed them to an old farmer and he told me more about them than I ever really wanted to know.
