Default M&P apex trigger kit questions?

I shot my M&P today and the trigger is dog poo. My question is what is the best bang for your buck to improve it? I have read that all you need is the hard seaer and I have also read that the duty/carry kit is the way to go. So to the the guys that have done both or one what say you?

It depends on what you want out of the trigger. The sear is a must and the entire DCAEK or CAEK kits are a great place to start. I installed the CAEK minus the striker spring (already light enough w/o it) and here is what changed for me:
Got rid of the "false" reset, reduced take up and over travel, lightened trigger pull (guessing around 3 lbs), crisp break, and smooth pull.
However, the trigger pull wont get much lighter if you just use the DCAEK. Hope this helps

Perfect answer, thank you. Does it have a more positive reset now? That was really messing with me.

Its hard to say. The reset is better for me because my m&p had a false reset before it would actually reset if that makes sense. So with that gone, I know when it has reset but I dont really think it is any more positive or distinct. You could always try out the RAM from apex if you still dont like the reset after installing the kit. I dont have any exp. with it though.

I've also been thinking about an Apex kit. If installed, will it take me out of the Stock Service Pistol class in IDPA?

do all be trigger work you want- as long as it doesn't make it SA only you are fine.

heavily modified trigger (as long as safeties are intact) IDPA approved

don't you dare stipple that frame though- kicks you into ESP

I was wondering about that. My removable back piece is stippled, but no one has ever said anything about it. Does that still count? Thanks for the info by the way.

that baffles me. manual says checkering or stippling anywhere is a no go in SSP

upside is that they wont check.

    sorry to derail thread topic

I have this info in other threads but it's worth repeating. I would not recommend putting the competition kit on an M&P with no manual safety unless it's strictly a competition gun. My 45 has it and that thing is pretty light. While doing the installation I thought about removing the safety since everything was taken apart. After I went out to the range I changed my mind real quick. Sounds like Trigg3er Happy had a good tip up there. Also keep in mind that the trigger will work itself out after you put some rounds through it.

I've also thought about the RAM but it's a little pricey for something I'm not sure if I need.
