the more the advanced the boat the more the problems with it! My step-dad has a nice boat but is always working on it and it is such a PITA to winterize since it is an inboard.

I just use my dads boat. 14' lund with a johnson 25 horse outboard. super simple. still stuff to work on but honestly it is a piece of cake.

good luck with the boat gunner! hope you have a blast with it

Congrats on the new toy and expensive hobby.

One of the things I miss most about the Chesapeake Bay is spending the day under a boom with some sail cloth for shade. No where to go but plenty of time to get there.

I have had a lot of luck with my boat. I haven't had to work on it in years, just take it to the lake and go for a paddle and paddle and paddle and paddle. It's a 17ft aluminum canoe with a paddle. I guess when the motor dies I won't care anymore.

You lived in Virginia? What part? I was stationed at NOB (Norfolk for the not in the know folks)

I miss the ocean something fierce, always liked the atlantic because it was warmer.

I'm a Baltimoron : ) Maryland has more of the bay than VA, plus MD owns most of the Potomac River. Virginia has better politicians, lower taxes, and better gun laws. You could sail the Chesapeake for years and not run out of gunkholes to anchor.

Water temperature in the Gulf of Mehico or the Florida Keys is the best. When the water gets warm in Ocean City, the jelly fish start stinging : )

I miss the place but not the politics. We visit at least once a year. Still plenty to do.

Lake Powell is a an absolute blast with beauty to boot. We've gone out there every year for the last 10 years. Good times! Keep your wits about you on chatfield. Lots of drunk idiots out there. Its too bad Colorado lakes are so small. Have a fun safe summer.
