    Default loading buckshot questions

Being the inquisitive cheap bastard that I am I started looking into reloading my own buckshot for SHTF. I have been watching a bunch of Youtube videos on shot shell reloading but do not have the space to set up a load all. if anyone remembers my loading bench it is tiny and barely fits the lee turret I have.

If I buy new unfired primed hulls do i need to size them? If I do not need to size them than I can use my other powder throwers to drop the charge in and than use a appropriate sized dowel to seat the wad.

For those of you that reload buck what kind of wads do you use?

I want to do roll crimps because I really like the look of them. I already found the tool i need and have the drill press. Am I correct in assuming that the roll crimp adjusts to the height of the shot column? So i could do some light plinking 6 pellet loads and heavy 9-10 pellet loads and the crimper will adjust accordingly?

    Thanks in advance

    Huge pain in the ass.

In the long run, buying them at .70-1.00 a shot is worth it.

    100 primed hulls $17.00
100 clear over shot wads $3.00
100 wads on the high side of their cost $5.00
    100 30 grain powder charges $8.00
100 1oz loads of buck if bought and not cast $30.00

    .63 a shot

I see your point Hoser. I picked up a 25 rd box of S&B #1 buck from sportsmans today for $15

You have to count each pellet, you cant just drop it in like regular lead shot. When you put it in you have to nest it. I put 3 pellets in push them down in place with my finger and repeat. (using 00 buck) If you go on hodgdon website they have some nice buck shot loads with all the load information as far as wads, hull, powder, primer etc. I use the 3 inch rem steel shot hull load they have on there and it works great in my shotgun. Basically its 12 pellets of 00 buck going around 1300 feet per second. Everything I needed to complete the load besides the hull, I found at sportsmans warehouse.
