So background; I can from a long line of males in my family that just was raised to not shed a tear or show very little emotion, all the love-dovey stuff right.
My son who is 4 1/2, caught some nasty virus thing from one of his school mates from a play date on Friday. We have been battling the thing the last 72 hours with 102+ fevers etc.
My wife works 9 hour shifts at night at a nursing home and so I hold down the fort at night over the weekends.
I am lying in bed and my boy comes into my room whining. I ask him whats wrong. "My brain hurts." he says. So I get up take his temp and it is high again and I notice he has the chills. His little lips are chattering shivering from his fever. He said "I am cold daddy."
So I give him some medication and get him to lay down in bed with me and he curls up next to me. I put my arm around him and after a couple minutes I notice he stops shivering. I asked him; "Does your brain still hurt, are you still cold?" He replies: "No daddy." Then a little pause and he goes: "Thank you daddy." Then holds up his hands and makes a shape of a heart and says:"I love you daddy." Then proceeds to give me a big hug not letting go.
Got to tell you I about lost it, just this swell of emotion, thinking of all the things in the world considered to be riches, this has got to be the best and most priceless feeling ever. I love my boys.............
Sorry had to share..........
