A neighbor's house burned down a few years back. Let's just say he liked to shoot. I was one of the first on the scene and helped the VFD pull hose. Spent a lot of time dodging .45 brass. It wasn't moving fast but it did hurt when it hit ya.

I have about 1500 per handgun (gun not caliber), 2500 per tactical rifle (not caliber), and 300-600 per bolt-gun.

Mostly because I think prices are only going up and I've been 'saving'. But I don't see these levels as 'abnormal'.

I think a MINIMUM of 2,000 per firearm is a good place to start.

    Which one, 89 or 94?

We have enough, to get us to one of many board members in the area that may or may not be stock piling. They are crappy shots so........win-win.

You bet!! In my day, we'd mix up our own powder and cast our own projectiles (round ball). Never had to be concerned about picking up empty brass as it was all muzzle loaders back in MY day. Now, I have no shootable ammo left anymore as it was all used up on those dreaded Red Coats.

I generally try to keep 500-1000 rounds per caliber on hand. Its kind of hard though because I keep selling it.
