Glock 19 Barrel Wear

Can anyone tell me the approximate number of rounds shot that will begin to cause wear on the front and rear of a Glock 19 barrel? My XDs seem to show wear around 500 rounds. My new Glocks show no wear at 500-600. I acquired a used G19 with slight wear on the barrel and the center frame slide mounts.

Probably more than your finger can pull. There are documented cases of 300K+ rounds where the pistol is still running strong.
The barrels get the same treatment as the slide, Tenifer which is a Carbo-Nitriding treatment which registers at the same hardness as an industrial diamond.
Springfields are treated with Melonite which is similar but not quite up to Tenifer.

You'll start seeing marks a couple hundred rounds in. My G34 barrel with 20k+ is just now starting to get appreciably metal-colored. Remember the black is a surface color treatment. The Tenifer is colorless, embedded in the metal, and will take a very, very, very long time to wear.

I've seen some wear quickly and some take longer. Weird. 300rds in one will show different than 300rds in another. Can't really explain it but I've seen it.

If you are referring to wear on the finish of the barrel, this will be evident after only a few hundred rounds.

If you are talking about wearing the barrel out by shooting jacketed ammo through it, like BPTactical said, you will have to shoot several hundred-thousand rounds through it to wear out the barrel.

Are you talking about the exterior of the barrel? Or are you talking about the polyagonal rifling? The inside of your barrel will be fine well after your frame has been worn out. The exterior of your barrel just has a, for all intensive purposes, "parkerizing" finish on it, which will wear off. The finish on Glocks and Hk's etc... are only there for to please the shooter, "tactical", it doesn't reflect glare. When they're done with the nitro carburizing, or carbonitriding (which ever way you want to say it), the metal is good and as rust proof as you are going to get. The black finish is to cut down on glare, nothing else.

Thanks. I am talking about the exterior barrel wear. The G19 I have also has some wear on the frame center slide mounts. The back portion of the "u" appears to be slightly corroded or rough in its finish. None of my other Glocks have had this and I'm wondering if this is common.

Ya guy, it's normal for the black finish to wear off, it happens on every gun under the sun man. All it is, is the parkerizing being scraped off slowly from rubbing against the slide when the gun is fired. That's all. As far as the "U" part goes, I'm pretty sure it's just normal wear, like Llama said though, a picture would help greatly.
