Depends on your target customer base, I guess. If you're looking for people 30 and younger, QR codes could be good. If the older generation, probably not...

What exactly does this company do for you and how much does it cost?

You can make your own QR codes for free with sites like this and if you have your own web site you can always set the QR code to go to a specific page and then track how many hits it gets ... all for free.

I think QR's are great but I would be worried that the QR code tracking company might be a scam.

I think the target demo is not so much age based ... QR codes only really target smartphone users (and those come in all ages but do tend to lean a bit on the younger side).

    OP...
PM me if you would like.
I run a very large advertising company, and am familiar with QR codes.
Might be able to help, and no.... I won't try to sell you anything.

I saw one along 285 on a billboard. WTF?

What ad agency sold that to the client as a good idea ?

I thought QR codes were dumb 5 years ago when they came over from Japan. Why do companies latch on to stuff years after?

I haven't scanned on in 5 years. I don't think my iPhone even has an app that would scan.

Do they ever do anything other than open a webpage? I've only scanned a few.

You can make them do all sorts of things, most are simply web URL, but you can also use an email address, make them into V-Cards (scan and bam, you're complete information is in their address book), you can make them send a text message, dial a phone number, add an entry to your calendar, input lat/long coordinates on a map, even the SSID and login for a wi-fi network.

I have one on my business card and I doubt it gets much use. I don't see it being that big a deal.
