    Default River fishing rant

What the hell is wrong with people. Fishing the south platte for trout with a spin cast is like trying to take a 1000 yard shot with a fricken BB gun. In the past two weeks I've seen dozens of these fools on the river, tearing crap up, snagging lures and and then leaving umpteen yards of line in the the water after snapping their line off... Seriously, get a Fn clue, put the POS down, and slowly back away from the stream.

If you can't fly fish, then you are not really fishing for trout in a mountain stream or river. You are simply in my and every other fly fisherman's way. You might get lucky and catch one fish. We are going to catch dozens and not leave shitloads of line everywhere. If fly fishing is too hard for you, find a lake or pond and leave the "too hard to cast a fly rod" type fishing to those of us that spent the time and energy to learn how to do the hard stuff. BTW, I taught my daughter how to do the hard stuff when she was ten, ya, you suck that bad. Now get away from my Fn river.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.

    We should legislate it.
    Get Permits and register fly-rods.

"Where-in no person without a proper fly- rod, Properly tied fly and State sanction 90 hours of Fly-fishing training from an accredited instructor shall be permitted to fish in any stream, river or body of moving water.
All such duly authorized persons shall wear upon their heads a large synthetic mass of bright red or green hair and upon their feet, Large floppy shoes as indications of such qualifications."

Get Mayor Bloomberg out here to endorse it even...

I wonder if we can get Michael Bennet and Mark Udall to sponsor it?

I spinning reel fish rivers for trout and Walleye and kick ass at it. Two years ago got a 13 pound walleye in the river below chatfield, a fly fisherman would have never done that. Op should join Fishexploer most of the guys on there are the Bloombergs of the fishing holes I hate reading their self rightous posts.

Personally, I like to snowboard down a double black diamond run on my way to casting into the river at the bottom of the valley. That's before a long night of drag racing my import, then tossing back single barrel whiskey mixed with diet coke.

x2 and I'm a fly fisherman. I spin fish and fly fish both lakes and streams. The elitist attitude of many fly fisherman sucks.

SaFriday I am sorry for sorta condemning you. The fact that your on this site and a fisherman is great. Sadly people fishing and hunting is decreasing. So to see novices out there is a good thing. If they stick at they will learn just like we did to fish properily. Personally when I am out and see someone out there struggling I give them a hint or show them what works if they want the advice. Also I fish all the time with my 5 year old, I fly fish too but right now that's too complicated for the little fellow. So right now were bait fishing, and we do pretty good. This far less demanding than my fly fishing but right now I would not trade a thing for the bonding we are having right now.

    Take care and tight lines!

    X a zillion.

I spin because it's what I prefer and can catch anything from trout to muskie. My grandpa taught me to fish and he fished to have something to eat. If you think flyfishing is the "only" way to fish you help perpetuate the "flyfishers are elitist" stereotype.

+3 I'm even from Alaska. I would say it is the biggest fishing state, try combat fishing on the kenai or Russian river.
