You know I might like to try fishing here. I haven't bothered since I moved. I can fly fish, I guess it's just a matter of deciding to go.

It is tough as hell tying them little buggers to the hook, they won't be still.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.
My post had nothing to do with skill or amount of fish caught. You took it there, not me, so slow your roll, Whippy Stick.
All I said was, your attitude is bullshit. That's right, I typed it out.
YOUR river? Is your name on it somewhere? Do you own the land around and under said river? What's that? No you say? Well then it's not your river and you should stop acting like you're some how better at life than the rest of us.
If you want to ban everyone but Flyfishermen from rivers then I expect no bitching from you when fees go up and access goes down.
That shouldn't bother you much though. You're a FlyFisherman... You're better than everyone else.
I'd still have a Pepsi with ya, even though you're a Flyfisherman who thinks himself better than the rest of us. I don't drink beer.![]()
I grew up within walking distance to the Colorado and the Roaring Fork. Been fishing with a spin reel my whole life and don't see a need to learn something new.
I love to flyfish but here's the deal:
We complain that others don't do it right. This leads to segregation...fly fishing and lures only. Bait casters go elsewhere! Pretty soon, the fly fishers and lure fishers hove thier own sections. Soon, the novice fly fishers get upset with the beginner fly fishers. Now we have to segregate them and break the river down to more sections. The older fly fishers can't wade in the heavier currents so they get their own section and so on and so on. Lastly, we have individual permits assigned to 20 yard sections of the river and after 10 years of the same section, we don't realize that they moved the application deadline up from the 31st of December to the 30th of November and we loose that permit and have to take up golf as we no longer have a spot in the river to fly fish.
Just saying, be careful what you wish for, it might come back to bite you in the ass!
I think people hear about the great fishing and big fish in the south platte and want to go fish it. They don't realize the amount of people from the US and around the world that go there to fish. They don't realize how selective these fish have become and they don't realize those people are using TINY flies and that the river is so famous that every pool and riffle has a name.
I had a couple neighbors that took their 8 yr old sons there to spin fish and were disapointed that they didn't even get a bite.
