Ian - you may wish to consider contacting the 3 major credit reporting agencies (sorry, I don't have any links readily available) and putting a fraud alert out.

Also, keep a close watch on your home and any vehicles that aren't garaged for the next month at least.

Really sorry to hear that this happened to you. I had my daily commute vehicle (a POS Celica) broken into about a month 1/2 ago. The only thing of value they got was my cell phone charger.

That was my first thought. I'm inclined to start keeping a copy with my pocket clip like I do with my ins card, and not leave anything identifiable in the vehicles.

Sucks man sympothies and empathy. Happened to me over a year ago in front of my work at the busiest entrance. Stole everything that was not tied down even my sunflower seeds and Pepsi 12 pack i bought on the way to work. Nothing is sacred.

I watched Craigslist and checked out local pawn shops in the area with no luck. Denver police had me fill out a report online, never saw an officer. No response from them. I had a portable Sirius radio I stupidly left in the console and I reported it to Sirius who said they would flag the #as stolen. Never heard from them either.

Man that is shit! People are stupid and just need to kill, hurt and steal from others all the time. Worthless A Holes will get their just deserts someday. I remember 6 years ago when I bought my 06 Subaru WRX and the first night in my apt parking lot someone broke into it and didn't take anything but where trying to disassemble the whole interior. Luckily something or someone scared them off.

Talking to my wife, and she was telling me that lot's of police alerts about massive amounts of car thefts basically from Platte on south into Security lately. If there's ANYTHING in sight in your car it's not safe anymore whereas before it was only easy targets.

This sucks, but it's a good reminder for me to go around the house and take photos of all the stuff worth taking just for records.
