As I understand it, the "cookies" this site issues when you log in was changed to not expire for 30 days., If you have a browser window open (or whatever is used on smart phones) and you've been logged into the site within the last 30 days, it will identify you as logged into the site - even if you really aren't.

This appears to be what's going on.

Either a scheduled task or a SQL trigger isn't firing on the board it looks like. Two symptoms: the rising user count, plus the "new posts" isn't resetting.
