Default Big Bada-Boom event at Ft Carson this Saturday

    http://co.ng.mil/News/Pages/120609-calfex.aspx

Members of the Colorado Air and Army National Guard will join forces Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a combined arms live fire exercise on Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The combat demonstrations, open to the general public will be conducted from 11-11:30 a.m. It will feature comprehensive demonstration of the Colorado National Guard's combat capabilities including, F-16 jets dropping bombs, M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System shooting downrange, snipers shooting targets from more than 500 yards, a helicopter medical evacuation, large vehicle static displays, and much more.

This exercise will demonstrate the combined firepower and warfighting capabilities of the Colorado National Guard and its trained Soldiers and Airmen, demonstrating to our citizens that the Colorado National Guard stands ready to meet mission requirements at home and abroad.

“The display of air and ground forces working jointly is imperative for combat readiness, and training with live ammunition has long been used by the armed forces as an opportunity to simulate combat situations,” said Adjutant General of Colorado, Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards. “This is a very important event for us and, weather permitting, should be a very exciting show.”
Haven't seen much about this advertised, but should be a fun event.

    No and no.

    Not entirely true.

If you have your weapons registered on post, you may have them in your POV along with the copy of the registration form(s).

No CCW allowed under any circumstances.

Also not entirely true. While under certain circumstances you may have a personal weapon while on base, you can't have one just so that you can have one.

Military personnel assigned or attached to Fort Carson, civilian employees, visitors or anyone wishing to bring a firearm onto the installation must register their weapon with the Vehicle Registration Office, Building 6012, within five working days after acquisition of the firearm or initial arrival to Fort Carson.

Privately owned firearms may only be transported on Fort Carson if the individual is transporting the weapon to or from a place of authorized storage, sale, hunting area, hunter safety class, firing range, or gun/repair shop.

Persons with firearms registered at the VRO must clear their registration upon departure from The Mountain Post. For details, call 524-1896.
Bottom line, if you are going to see the CALFEX, don't bring a gun.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.
