Default Co-witness Optics - your preferences

I am going to replace (then sell) my Elcan C79 3.4x28 optic with one that will allow me to use either the optics or the BUIS (Back Up Iron Sights) without removing the optic.

My AR carbine has flip up front & rear BUIS (YHM front & GG&G rear).

I'm researching the different optics and am considering an Eotech, possibly a 512 or an Aimpoint M4.

What are your preferences / experiences / recommendations?

    Thanks

I have an Eotech and like it a lot. The window is big enough to readily use the irons with it powered off. I'd like it more with a 3X magnifier, but I don't think it will fit with the buis.

Eotech 512 is a good choice JMHO

I have a couple Aimpoints with Troy BUIS's and both are 1/3rd Co-witnessed. So far I haven't had any negative issues with this setup. Never tried an Eotech so this is JMO.

I have an EOTech 552 with Magpul Flipup rear sight & standard post front. It is a true cowitness setup, and I like it. WB

Lower 3rd with a flip up rear is where it's at IMO, plenty clearance with a fixed fsp, and provides an adequate sight pic when the rear site's up.
