    Default My pics of the Venus transit

    Here are some of the pics I took of the Venus transit today. I don't have a fancy imaging set up. I just hold a piece of crap camara up to the eyepiece.

    Shortly after it began. Look at about 8 o'clock. There are also sunspots visible in most of these pics.







    Mars is entirely inhabited by robots.

    Pretty darn good pictures. Thanks for sharing! Did you do that with a refractor? I have a big dapsodian I wish I could do pictures

    Yes, I used a 4" refractor with a 26 mm eyepiece giving a magnification of 38X. You could probably do pics with your dob. I haven't tried with mine though. These aren't timed exposures so you don't have to worry about tracking.

    I used a white light solar filter on the end of the telescope. That is what gives the sun the orange color. For some reason the camera shows the yellow/white spot when taking a picture. It's not there just looking with your eye. I'm not much of a photographer so I couldn't tell you why that happens.
