    Default Laser designator

Any predator hunters out there? I am looking forward to hunting coyotes at night on private land. Hence my question about laser designators. Laser Genetics makes a long distance designator (NU .3X50) for $600.00.

Another company has a super 50 MW ND - 50 green designator with mounts and a chargable battery for $105.00 - significant reduction.

The specifications and marketing hype are similar. Does anyone have experience with laser designators that can provide some guidance and advice? Thank you.

Are you dropping smart bombs on them?

Interesting piece. Never hunted coyotes at night with a laser.
I can't imagine you can hardly find a coyote at night at 300-500 yards even with a designator like the ones you've listed.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Unless you already have a place / invite to shoot them, save your money. Everyone new[er] to CO alll have visions of varmints dancing through their scope. 6-7 months here comes question numero dos', Anyone know a place to shoot yotes and pd's?

The money you want to spend can, be put to better use buying ammo to practice with.

I can't bring up the Division's regulations page to confirm, but I believe that projecting laser light is illegal in hunting. I'm more confident that its illegal in big game, less so in small game. I'll have to double check with the Division's regulations when their server is working.

I had never called coyotes at night until last winter. My friend had all the night equipment. We put his ND3x50 on my rifle when I was the shooter and it worked pretty slick. We only used the lazer when it was time to shoot. No illumated scope was needed because that lazer was plenty bright to make the shot.
The caller was also the shiner and he would set up directly behind the shooter and shine for eyes and operate the caller, and all the shooter would do is wait until he was ready to shoot and hit the lazer and shoot. Worked pretty slick.
I still much prefer day time calling though. I just prefer to watch'em come to the call.

I'd be interested in the differences beween the two you listed. If the scope mounting is better on one, or if battery life is much better, or just what it is that makes the genetics so much more expensive.

Wow quite the rig. Neither my budget or my enthusiasm for hunting at night would sustain such a sophisticated rig. It certainly speaks to your expertise. Thanks for sharing.
