    Default Auburn football players shot

I know many of you dislike football and such, but as being an athlete and knowing a few players on th AU football team, this hits me very hard. Young mens lives, and many more ruined taken by a worthless thug. Just thought I would share this here. Reminds me why I need a form of self defense even in a seemingly harmless college town.

You didn't include in your writing, the guys hit them first, then the one who was shot dropped a bottle on one guys head. Not saying that's cause to get shot, although being assaulted is in some cases means for deadly force.
Once again parties, machismo and guns are a bad mix.

Here's that part of the story.

Turquorius Vines, 23, said he was at the pool party Saturday evening at the University Heights apartments with one of his friend, Pitts. He said he and his friend were approached by two other men who started arguing with them over a woman.
Vines said he punched one of the men, while Pitts hit both of the men over the head with a bottle. Either one or both of the two men then started shooting, he said. He said his friend was shot and killed, while two others also were hit by gunfire. Vines said he had never before seen the men who he had been arguing with.

From reports I have herd, and this story states that some "other" person, probably the third person murdered was the one who smashed the bottles over the suspects head. The football players were simply bystanders.

alcohol and guns definitely don't mix, especially at a party where things can easily get out of hand. very sad story.

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like times are really changing. There use to be a time when two dudes fought.....one caught an ass whipping, one didn't and everyone went home. I've thrown a few and caught a few and never once did it go through my mind to shoot someone over stupid sh*t. When I was younger I often bit off more than I could chew and caught a beat down. It was just a right of passage for a young guy....a part of life.

I think it would depend on the situation. If I am talking trash to some dude back and forth and we start fighting, perhaps I'll assume that it is just going to be a fist fight. But if I'm minding my own business and haven't spoken to anyone, or am walking by myself and get jumped or something, I just assume they are trying to do me sever bodily harm and will do anything I can to incapacitate them as much as possible.

I agree. Being jumped or assaulted is a different story and i dont mean to derail this thread. I just mean that there were a lot of scraps when I was younger and no one seemed to be getting shot. Or maybe I just wasn't hearing about it.

it stopped when people quit ending at an ass-whoopin and started taking it to homicide.

case it point... a bottle smashed over your head... this isn't Hollywood.
That is felony assault with a deadly weapon.
You start stuff, there may well be too much stuff for you to handle.
