Audi would be much easier except for the Quattro part. The jetta has the same body and frame as the Audi. All you need to do is drop the engine and transmission with the sub-frame attached out the bottom, roll it under the other vehicle and bolt it up. Clear out the fuel lines and replace the fuel pump. Done. Now you have a TDI Audi and a Gas Jetta. With all wheel drive the gearing in the transfer case and rear differential have to be changed out.
Well it cost us about $2500 when the engine on my '91 Toyota went out and we bought a new(ish) one from Japan with less than 40K on it... so I guess shipping from Europe could be comparable...
