If you shot 300RUM alot, you HAVE to reload! :P I reload for darn near everything I have minus shotgun and the "evil black rifles".
Are you getting Scirocco's for $17 a box, or are you saying you load a box of rounds for $17? If you get those bullets that cheap let me know where! LOL
Before the rebuild, I had pushed the Accubonds to 3342 (average) before I had a sticky bolt lift (H1000), but the best accuracy ended up with 96.5 grains of Retumbo with 3180 FPS. Slow I know, but I am an accuracy freak.
On the build, I had Bill loose the "freebore", on his recommendation, in hopes to gain more accuracy. This may come with the penalty of velocity, I dunno. I don't chrono anymore until I find "the" load, as I pull myself too many directions... The new barrel is chambered for COAL of 3.717 with 240's, so I am going to back it up .15 and start from there with Retumbo, H1000, RL25, & WC872. The jury is out on RL25, as from what I hear and read, it is "temperature" sensitive. Perfomed well on break-in rounds though. I wish I could find US869(?), as this powder is supposed to be the best for the heavy 30's.
Bring it to a shoot? Let me find a load first, then find a CO Ar-15 shoot past 200 yds :P Your's sounds like a sweet set up also! 28" BBL? I wanted a 28" too, but I'm impatient and couldn't wait for the order! Post a pic of yours too, we can start a "300 club"!
