Ah! Working on things you know nothing about.... One of the most frustrating and yet satisfying things a man can do with his time.
Earlier this week I pulled our living room flat panel LCD apart to fix a flickering issue it's had for a few months. I found 4 bad capacitors in the 2 inverters (2 caps per inverter). I haven't don't any electronics soldering for about 20+ years - yeah, that was fun (not).
Got it fixed though and the wife is happy again.

I tried the whole "fix a flat panel tv by yourself thing." I haven't done any electrical stuff since...EVER, so I didn't get very far. Got that swamp cooler fixed. It cost .89 cents and that was spending more than I needed to. I spent way more time driving around for tools and food than I did fixing anything. Mother-in-law is happy though.
So for my birthday, we got signed up for Devil Dash. She heard me talking about Tough Mudder a lot, but that one was too much so she did Devil Dash instead. That is just as well, because Devil Dash is a 5k and I run that every time I run anyway, and Tougher Mudder is closer to 10 miles and I've never run that far, let alone with all the obstacles, hills, and altitude.

EDIT: my bday is in a week.. I'd buy you a beer today, but then you'll have to do the same next week. We'll call it even!
