I sent them and all of Jim Zumbo's sponsors and associted advertizers some hate mail.

One less supporter for Outdoor Life and Jim Zumbo. As a vetren I was
appalled at being labled as a terrorist because I own and use an AR-15,
and saddend by the huge negative impact it had on the perception of gun
    owners.

I will also boycott any of Jim Zumbos sponsors.

I put a couple entries into the blog, but with the changes just made by OL, I can't find them.

It's a shame Zumbo did this not only did he sell us gun owners and hunters out he gave the Brady bunch a lot of ammo.

I think for all practical purposes he also just ruined his entire career as well as the 40+ years of work.

I was supposed to go coyote hunting with my friend and Zumbo one of these days. I doubt that will ever happen and it's probably for the better I would have showed up with my AR15 and a can on it. I bet the only thing that would have come of it is me getting into a huge pissing contest with him.

they (OL) has locked everything down....

    damage control, IMHO.

    time will tell.

and just because OL removed it, doesn't make it go away.

this is just the tip of the iceberg!

*I did tell OL they best restore all the posts unless they want to be labled as anti speech too!

I just got back from buying some Remington .223 ammo.

If I am willing to boycott a company, I'll sure as heck support them if they do the right thing.

I think I'll try some on a Coyote this weekend......

So far, it appears that OL is the only one that has semi supported him. All they seem to have done is pull the controversial blog....
I can see it now - Blog entry, what blog entry????? Gee, we don't remember Zumbo sticking his foot in his mouth.... Why, he's an alright guy......

PS, since OL pulled his stuff, here's a link to a google posting of it.

If anyone wants to use my short but sweet letter format, please do. This is what I have emailed everyone on the list.

I don't see anything on your web page about this issue. I would hope that you stand up for 2nd Amendment rights and pull Mr. Zumbo's sponsorship. If you try and ignore it, I believe the thousands of people enraged by this will show you how serious we are by not buying your products. I would hope that you follow Remington's lead and pull his sponsorship and make a statement on your web page. The question remains, will you do the right thing?
    Thank you for your time.

I got this reply from Cabelas. It looks to me like they are trying to find a way out of their contract with him. The big boys are speaking!!!!!
On a side note, Outdoor Life is not taking emails anymore.

    Discussion Thread
    Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

While Cabela’s believes everyone has the right to express their own opinions, we strongly disagree with Jim Zumbo’s February 16 posting on his Hunting with Jim Zumbo blog on Outdoor Life’s Web site.

Throughout our 46-year history, Cabela’s has firmly supported all aspects of shooting sports. We strongly support the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States and the right of every U.S. citizen to purchase, own and enjoy any legal firearm of their choosing.

While we fully support Mr. Zumbo’s First Amendment right of free speech, we believe his opinions on this matter are counter to those shared by Cabela’s and many of our customers. Cabela’s Legal Department is currently reviewing contractual obligations and commitments regarding our sponsorship of the Jim Zumbo Outdoors television show.

    Have a great day.
    Sincerely,
    Brent

this was the response I recieved from Gerber Knives, one of his sponsors

Following Jim Zumbo's recent comments, those of us at Gerber would like
to clarify that we respect the opinion of our sponsored hunters and
users however, we do not necessarily agree with all their opinions, nor
do we endorse their public statements. Our presence and development in
the tactical and hunting markets is proof-positive we are committed to
supporting these industries and all those involved.
Since Jim's blog was published he has issued this apology:
    http://outdoorlife.blogs.com/zumbo/2...wrong_big.html.

Thanks for supporting our rights and for supporting Gerber Legendary
    Blades.

Here is a letter I wrote to the companies the do business with him.

    To whom it may concern,

As a veteran and an outdoorsman I was shocked and dismayed by Jim Zumbo's remarks on his outdoor life blog. I will no longer support any company that chooses an obvious enemy of the 2nd Amendment as their representitive. I am not a terrorist and resent being called one by someone i thought was on "our" side. His comments will only help the Brady campain.
