    Default V-Twins (non-harleys)

This weekend I put about 800-1000 miles in two days just cruising around on my bike. Well Friday night out riding with my friends we ended up meeting up with about 20 other bikes who we just met. Smallest bikes were 600cc's but what really caught my eye (or ear) was three bikes; V-twins. There were two Honda SuperHawks/VTR1000's and one that really stood was a Honda RC51/RVT1000. The sound of that thing was just amazing! I have not had the chance to ride one yet but I am seriously considering getting rid of my CBR 1000RR and getting one. The sound that thing made could be heard over every other bike. Plus that thing was torque monster!

Anyone have actual experience owning a Jap V-Twin? I am really more concerned about the power difference between a 1000cc 4 cylinder to a 1000cc 2 cylinder.

I never had the chance to own a v twin. the RC51 looks WAY better then the superhawk to me, but they both sound great.

If I were to get back into sportbikes, I would go RC51 for sure..

That RC51 was just badass. The Superhawks sounded good but aren't much of a looker IMO. Even the SV650/SV1000 are not that appealing to me.

yeah i was never really into the half naked bikes (or whatever you call em lol)..

I had a pipe on my last 929.. it wasnt the standard squid yosh or something, but it was loud enough to set off car alarms.

the thing almost embarrased me at times lol... i never wanted to be the guy that was "whining" done the highway.. def going vtwin just for the sound next time.. lol

A good friend of mine had one of the first generation Vulcan 750s ... was the single most reliable bike he'd ever owned (and he's had a lot of bikes, Japanese, American and British). Was also significantly faster than the naked goldwing he had (back before they were the fashion).

That said if I were to get a V-Twin and I wanted a fast one I'd follow in my younger brother's footsteps and get a Ducati. His modified 851 is a frighteningly fast bike (second only to the 916 he had for a while).

I have a big v twin but its 1670cc yamaha roadstar silverado midnight. It hauls my fat a$$ like you would not believe. If I push it hard it tries to shove me up over the b seat.

I used to have a TL1000R that is basically the same bike as the RC51, just the Suzook version. Monster torque and tons of power up top. You can pick them up cheap too. They are both niche bikes. I do miss that v-twin boom though...

My old Yamaha Warrior. 1700 v-twin. Man, that thing was fun. Put out a ton of power even stock and it sounded incredible. Faster than an R1, and handles almost as well despite being a cruiser (has R1 suspension). Man I miss that bike.
