High end sneakers are marketed almost exclusively to the urban black demographic, while I doubt there was any racist intent it does show that they really don't know their customer base.
Seriously not a single black person works in Adidas Marketing? Nobody saw this coming?
As a graphic designer I sometimes do designs as an in house joke. For example we used to do a map of Commerce City ... I once did a joke version of the cover with a photo collage of pole dancers and cars up on blocks ... it was only to show around the office and for us to laugh at. I gotta wonder if this sneaker design isn't one of those that accidentally got put into production.
