    Default Currrent events and camping

One of the things in life i greatly enjoy is camping. With current events being what they are the thought of not being able too check media for news of a zombie outbreak once a day makes me nervous. How can you get news at your vehicle in the backwoods? Often radio stations are not there or they are only playing music. Satelite? Big antenna? SW?

I got a text from a buddy of mine while I was at the top of Pole Hill Road to let me know that the outbreak had started in Miami. Its unfortunate that I won't be able to rely on cell coverage.

You guys are so "Bush League"
Everybody knows zombies already run the media!

Smoke signals man, smoke signals reflected off of tinfoil hats will be the only reliable means of communication.

I have scanned through am and fm many many times without a hit. Manually moving through the frequencies usually yields a weak hit - usually on FM- more broadcast power. I have also driven to the top of ridges to get radio. The trouble is even when you get a usable signal its music, i want news.

Where can I get a smoke signal tinfoil hat rig? Perhaps a inexpensive one finely crafted by artisans in a economic expansion zone in the PRC?

In case of emergency do not depend on the posters above.

However we were on top of the divide when 9/11 happened and did not know about if for 10 days.
There is an AM staion that does reach alot of remote places, a CB radio can pretty much be picked up anywhere, we know have a couple.

XM/Sirius is probably the most user friendly option for daytime news. Some research on shortwave news radio stations (BBC? VOA?) might help you decide. At night, you should be able to pick AM stations from far away (atmospheric bounce effect).

I went to the xm/sirius website prior to posting this but i couldnt find a coverage map. Does their coverage generally get out in the national forest?
