I like a IWB Bianchi for everyday but when I am up in the hills I usually use a replica WWII shoulder rig.
Rides nice and can be adjusted to more of a chest ride.
Cheap too-29.00 at the Surplus store.

I understand there are factors like body armor, and tactical situation, but let's just say in an ideal, perfect world, if you could carry your weapon in any way you like, SHTF or otherwise, which would you use?

Me, personally, I'd go with the thigh rig, mainly because it's more natural to draw the weapon, it's more comfortable, and with armor on it's more practical (drawing from my PSD experience in Afghaniland). I have a pretty sweet thigh rig for my Glock that's a padded base with a SERPA holster attached to it.
We had tons of issues with the Serpa thigh rigs when we tried them out in training, Iraq, and Crackastan. The locking mechanism is garbage. some broke and locked the gun into the holster. Some jammed up with sand and dirt and locked the gun into the holster. Hell, some just plain broke and then didn't lock anything in the holster. We went to Safariland 6005's.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

We used Safarilands in AFG... I was more pleased with the holster than I was with what went into the holster (1995 issue M9). Funny how money works out like that, brand new Bushmaster M4s, over 10 year old Beretta POS's... I like the Safariland, I just got the Serpa for a killer price and it has yet to fail me. I expect a catastrophic failure and be forced to switch to my ACU pattern soft side that came with the rig- I have the whole thigh rig jerry rigged up pretty good- Just laced the straps through the belt loops of the Serpa on the soft ACU pattern base after removing the soft ACU pattern holster.

Thigh holster for practical purposes. The big thing about a thigh holster is if you're not a retard then you can figure out how to draw with your weak hand.

That being said, I use a belt holster because its comfier.

Shoulder or ccw holster for suits.

I'll never use a chest holster after seeing the results from an IED where a guys side draw went UP into his chin and split up to the base of his nose.

I guess I'm a retard. A thigh holster sweems like it would be the most difficult to draw using the weak hand. How does this work and why is it the big thing?

Unless you meant inner thigh holster......

I run a thigh holster I like it, but have to say when I'm driving the car it's up against the console and it is harder to draw from while sitting in my car than a hip holster. Would really like to try the chest rig set up!!!

For a right handed set up, take a right knee, pulling it behind you and around as much as you can. For fatties, this is near impossible to get at. Everyone else should be able to get it with some practice.

If you are on your back, right handed again, even with kit on you should be able to get if you pull your right knee to your left shoulder.

Its pretty easy but fatties or big guts gave a hard time with it.
