I ate a couple puches of freeze dried backpacking meals that were in my pack for a couple years. They were past the best by date and didnt taste too bad. Both my sons ate it with no complaints.A little loss of flavor but when you are hungry it will do just fine.

    Here. http://www.ar-15.co/forums/showthread.php?t=44421

I had a MH meal last month that was a year past. I have MRE entries that are still being consumed and they are 2001 dates.

As said stored right many things will last much longer than there dates.
