Edited that GeoMac screen shot to show where my boss' house was (his name is Ken).

I look at this picture and all I see is some sort of message from God to Ken to straighten his shit out (he also owns a home down in Ruidoso, NM that almost burned a week or so ago in a fire there).

Think you're reading that wrong. I think I'll buy next to his place since they don't burn.... Or have him buy next to me!

Screw that. I'll buy in that cul de sac one block over. Everything there is already burnt away, so it's safest for next time.

I'm convinced that the reason his place and all the others in his little condo community survived is because they're Spanish Mission style houses. Stucco exterior with Spanish tile roofs.

Here's what they look like http://goo.gl/maps/glzZ

If I ever build in a high fire danger area I'm building a Spanish Mission style house ... that or using steel shipping containers.

edit: Looks like one of his neighbors places was on the market.

Furnish those, I could comfortably live in a couple of containers with the center wall removed.

Stucco is great compared to wood but they have trees pretty close.

One of the things I recently learned is that enough heat can go through a window to ignite curtains and wood blinds inside a closed house. One of the last things you're supposed to do in an evac is pull down curtains and move anything else easily burnable away from windows.

I lived in a connex for 9 months in Iraq. It wasn't too bad.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

346 homes lost in Colorado Springs in one night. Just boggles the mind.
