It's Arizona. Probably won't get past the Grand Jury. I'm not conversant in AZ law, but many jurisdictions require shootings be considered by some type of fact finder and often that is the sitting Grand Jury. Without any more information than the original story, this one fits so easily within self defense, I doubt any judge would even let the critically injured perp file a civil suit against the young man or his family.
