Don't really agree with the M1 thing. I am an avid collector and have owned one, didn't find it very useful. As a nostalgic piece maybe, but no use to me. Same goes for 1911's. Many will disagree. At one time I had 17, 1911's. They are cool and new collectors usually get one.

Most will own an AR-15 at some point as well.

Here is a short list for collectors: (no order)

Older Smith and Wesson 2 or 3 digit model semi-auto pistol (no composite)
Older Smith and Wesson revolver (80's-1994 models)
Colt Python and/or Diamondback (Detective Special or Police are popular as well)
    Ruger Single Action Revolver
    Ruger Single Six/Bearcat Convertible
    Remington 700 BDL
M1903 (there is the nostalgia!) or SMLE
Original Weatherby Mark V Magnum Rifle (pre '72 German guns)
Older (earily 60's or older) Lever action rifle
Colt Single Action Revolver or close copy
    Gallery 22 cal pump
    Hawkin Muzzle Loader
    Remington 870
    Quality Over Under Shotgun
    Browning Buckmark
Ruger MKI or MkII target pistol
    one Glock
    Baretta 92
    AK47/74
    Dragonov
    HK-94 or MP5 clone
    Sig.. at least one
    Derringer.. just one
    CETME/HK91 or clone
    FN/FAL
    Ruger 10/22 and/or Marlin Model 60
    Ruger Mini-14/30
Remember no 1911?? Well Colt Delta Elite 10mm not 45ACP

At least here is a place to start.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Wow, that is one hell of a list. That's a lifetime of collecting.

Thanks for the list! I will be keeping it in my archives.

    Best so far.
