Earlier I asked for advice on a two rifle travel case and finally settled on a Pelican 1750. It has built in wheels and strong handles with metal reinforced locking slots. Inside there are three 1 3/4" foam pieces, one in the lid and two in the main compartment. The instructions were to outline the rifle and cut out the outline in one of the foam pieces to sandwich the weapon. I wanted to have options and found a place on the internet to custom make extra foam pieces cheaper than Pelican and ordered two extra pieces. My plan is to have one configuration with my XCR and a couple of pistols to be ready for anything. A second configuration will hold my 300 Weatherby for hunting and back up hunting revolver. And a third configuration will hold a DSA FAL and combat pistol (assuming it comes in before the next AWB).
Here's the Pelican 1750.
The foam is not easy to mark, since it's black but I found a metalic grey marking pen that worked like a champ. A little touch up on the fine stone and my pocket knife had no trouble cutting through. Here's the first configuration.
Flanking the XCR are two of my favorite Sigs. This one is a P220ST in .45acp.
And this one is a P226ST in .40S&W.
I'm still waiting for both the extra foam liner and the FAL so no other configurations to show yet.
