    Default Saiga S-12

    So I picked up a Saiga, and after I got home I was messing with the gas regulator and the detent got stuck in. Any Ideas on how to free it? I gave it a few good whacks, several "push it in and let it spring out" and I drove the crosspin part of the way out to see if it would loosen, but I'm afraid to drive it all the way out and have the pin come shooting out.

    Any other suggestions?

    Get ahold of Bert with BP Tactical. His information is in the Industry Pardners section. He can get you straightened out.

    Even if you unscrew the regulator all the way off (like you're going to clean the piston) the detent just stays in?

    Yes, the detent just stays in, even with the regulator removed. I'd love to give Bert some business, he's just too darn far.

    Chances are you just have a chunk of grit in there. Try letting a good penetrant soak for a day or two and if you have access to compressed air try tapping the detent while blasting air in the hole for it.
    Works well after I sandblast one and the detent is sticky.
    The most important thing to be learned from those who demand "Equality For All" is that all are not equal...

    I've only been home 1 day since that happened. I only had a minute to mess with it, so I test fired one shot, thinking the shock may jar the detent loose. It did not. I applied oil, and will blow out with air when I get home again.

    That sucks. I haven't had any issues with my S12 - I guess I got lucky
