For weapon mounting (which I dislike but to each his own) I think the TNVC mount is about the best thing going. It fits the same base as the Aimpoint magnifiers twist mount and you an mount the NOD to a helmet with it attached.

I'm just starting to play with night vision and have an PVS18. I use a Wilcox mount that works well on the rifle behind my Aimpoint T1 or M4. The higher end Aimpoints and Eotech can be used with night vision. It is usually the first 3 to 6 settings depending on the unit. I can also switch the PVS18 over to my helmet using the same Wilcox mount.

You can use a IR laser or visible laser depending on your money and situation. I tried my Surefire M400 at a night vision school I attended last February and it worked well for 25 yards and in when I had the 18 mounted on my helmet. Lots of options out there. All it takes is money. Talk to the boys at TNVC and Telluric Group if you need more info.
