What's the difference? They seem to be the same price, and they're both steel cased, but the finish on the cases looks different in pics. Wondering if one's better than the other somehow.

I am not 100% positive but I think the difference is the old wolf was lacquer coated and the new stuff is polymer coated. Polymer is better, lacquer can glue a case into a really hot chamber I have seen it happen.
That's my uneducated guess anyway.

you are correct the old laquer coated stuff is green tinted one and the new poly coated stuff is grey, and much more reliable. (classic and new production black box are both poly coated according to their website)Originally Posted by HunterCO
Wolf "Military Classic" is manufactured at the Ulyanovsk plant in Russia. Regular "black box" Wolf is made by Tula Cartridge Works (TCW).
At least in 7.62x39, the hollow point Wolf Military Classic made at the Uly plant is the only Wolf HP to fragment reliably. If you think you might use Wolf for home defence, that's the stuff to buy.
So for plinking around and general shooting, it really doesn't matter what I get. That's good to know, as they're the same price most places - just wanted to know what I was getting.
sg has the wolf fmj on sale for $142.47 for members. not a bad price by todays standards, I have a coupon for free shipping, let me know if you are interested in ordering any, I can give you the code.

That's a good deal, except that I need .223, not 7.62.![]()
