    Default VP Rice?

    From Drudge:

ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER
    Thu Jul 12 2012 19:30:01 ET

    **Exclusive**

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

    MORE

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

In recent days, she emailed supporters:

"2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States."

"The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime," she warned. "I'm very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order."

    Developing...
I'll have to brush up on Rice...I don't remember too much about her. From what I know, I'd be OK with her as veep. Worth looking in to.

I always thought she was a really bright, well-spoken lady, and I'd like to see her on the ticket.

Would be one of the smartest things the Republicans have ever done. So therefore it won't happen.

Colin Powell presidential candidate, or even VP, would be one of the smartest things Republicans could do.

Alen West would be *the* smartest thing... Right behind dropping all the religious baggage.

A Black female Republican. White guilt voters don't have that much guilt.
Besides I don't think she's black enough by NAACP standards.

I like Condi, but she has never been in a position to express her personal political views. If I remember correctly she is pretty moderate with a lot of democrat friends. While the black vote is largely lost, the right needs serious help with the female vote, this would help. Might even draw enough NFL vote.

Its a moot point ... she doesn't want the job and has flatly refused it in public before.

Also, she's not a conservative ... she's a pragmatist and a technocrat. I suspect she's no better than Colon Powell (except that she's been smart enough to keep her mouth shut).

There was a good article on Brietbart about this today.

Romney needs to pick a solid conservative/constitutionalist/Tea Party ideologue as a running mate. Someone like Alan West (but maybe not Alan West as he's got work to do in the House).
