Question for LEO
What causes a situation to need more than 1 LEO on scene? I have been pulled over before and had 2 cars on scene, I have seen what looks like traffic stops have 2+ cars at times.
I would assume training newer LEO, certain crimes obviously require backup.. what else?

It varies alot but as a general rule if you are stopped by one officer and another shows up after he takes you DL (we used to call it an adam car) you may have a warrant, and/or he thinks something is suspicious.

Could be any number of reasons. Most calls blend together throughout a shift, but every call is different. It can be mind numbing at times and when available, an extra set of eyes can be very welcome.

my fiance was wondering. i told her training,proximity and depending on the crime/driver were my guesses.
Or it could be boredom as well. I would usually stop if one of my coworkers was on a traffic stop and when I was a supervisor, I would stop to check on my peeps. Occasionally, it would be to wait until they were finished with what they were doing and then go for coffee.

In highlands ranch, if it's a nice car, they only have one cop. If it's a teenager/construction truck/ or POS they have 3to 5 cop cars. I think it's a waste of money.
