A baby girl died and a toddler was in critical condition Saturday after they were left in separate vehicles in the Indianapolis area on a day in which the temperature hit 104 degrees, a record for the date.
Greenfield Police Chief John Jester said a 3-month-old girl was found in a car at 3:35 p.m., the Indianpolis Star reported. The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Jester said the baby's father, Joshua Stryzanski, 18, was being held at the Hancock County jail on a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, the Star reported.
Greenfield is a city of about 20,000 east of Indianapolis.
In the other incident, at about 3 p.m. police broke a window in a Ford Explorer to free a 16-month-old girl in the city of Fishers, northeast of Indianapolis, the Star reported. The child suffered a seizure before being taken to an Indianapolis hospital, a Fishers police spokesman told the Star.
The temperature inside the SUV after the window was broken was 124 degrees, the Star reported, citing unnamed officials.
Fishers police said the child's mother, Meg Trueblood, 30, of Fishers, was charged preliminarily with felony neglect of a child, the Star reported.

I know someone who forgot their child in the car. Fortunately it was only for a few minutes and the child was fine. Of all things...it was on fathers day. He felt horrible about it. Keep in mind people, most of these incidents are accidents. Not from bad parenting. Not from drug or alcohol use. One parent isn't used to having to deal with the kid and the gov pushes they have to be in the back seat where they easily get forgotten. Especially if the kid is quiet or falls asleep.

Sad either way. Have to live the remainder of your life with this.

Easily? Man, I freak out if I have to run in to the gas station to pay for gas if the boy is in the back seat. Every single time I think "A sheriff is gonna pull in, see him and give me a giant ticket for child neglect". My Wrangler has no roof at the moment so there's no risk of high temps and in the winter I usually leave it running so the temps are high enough. If I'm in town and it's hot, he comes with me.

My point is, I have never forgotten that my stepson was in the back seat.

Ever. Maybe it will happen some day, but I'd bet against it.

Sorry...not sure how anyone "forgets" about a child in their car. No excuse.

I might forget my cell phone or forget to bring the mail in from the car...but not a kid.

Weger said the girl's mother, 30-year-old Meg Trueblood, has been charged with neglect. She allegedly told police she had left the child inside the car for an hour while she went shopping.
No excuse. Other than selfishness and stupidity.

Anybody catch the story last week of the very young (9-18 month) kid that was left in the care of the Mexican couple?
Child died and they discovered massive amounts of heroin and cocaine in his system. Poor kid had track marks on his feet.
Coroner stated he had never seen the amounts in an adult let alone an infant.
What in heavens name would compel somebody to bang up an infant with heroin and coke like that?
    Sick fawks
