Interesting that they've gone AWD- because they don't have any RWD besides the Mustang anymore... they didn't offer AWD because they thought it was needed, but as a compromise because they don't offer RWD.

They say it's faster- how is that even measured? and is that really what they need? (charger is 146+mph, are they even allowed to pursue at those speeds?) how's the handling, brakes? reliability? maintenance? price? (cost of ownership)

Looked at Ford's website for these, they're doing a lot of marketing-speak on there... it's a pretty unproven platform- this is a good way to prove it, tho! And if you can get ahold of the the interceptor parts and they interchange on the civvy Taurus, could result in braking and suspension improvements (did on the Charger, anyway)
The engine is pretty well proven. It's the Ford EcoBoost motor, which has been doing great in F150s, in the new Taurus. I'm not sure where the AWD drivetrain came from, though.

AWD is actually better for control, handing, and high speed maneuvering (just ask why Team Audi uses the Quattro platform for the majority of their race team, or why RUF changes the 911 platform from RWD to AWD). Reading the specs on the Ford it does far better in braking, acceleration (big deal for LEOs), and handling... reliability, too soon to tell I'm sure, and price, like I said is only $4,000 more than the Crown Vic. I'm sure maintenance is comparable, despite Jeffco seeming to have a ridiculous budget ($16,000 for vehicle mounted FLIR domes?).

Slanderous? Are you going to start a civil suit or something?

You are just a whiny, attention-whoring, diarrhea-of-the-mouth (or fingers as it were) type of individual. The fact that you get really upset about it but yet don't correct it, is what makes it amusing.

Slanderous- to insult, demean, degrade...etc. Not just legal speak.

How is this any of the insults you just said? I figure since we have LEOs in our community, and an interest in LE activity here I would share what one of our agencies is up to that I thought was kinda neat. What is there to correct? Oh wait, that's right, why am I even wasting my time with you, IGNORE.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Ask why Team Audi using Quattro? BECAUSE THEY'RE AUDI. That's like asking why a bird flies.

To generalize, RUF actually changes most AWD 911 platforms to RWD. But realistically they're probably building off of RWD platforms like the 911 GT3.

That being said, AWD is great for traction in high horsepower vehicles. That's the best you can say about AWD vs. RWD in generalities. On the whole, RWD vehicles handle better. However they are less forgiving to the driver, and does not provide as much traction. AWD cars tend to plow in high speed turns.

But go ahead, maybe if you talk a LOT about a subject you know absolutely nothing about, people will think you do.

My STi did that to me once... Wasn't super high speed either. Just quick and sharp.

Sharp? Are you talking about oversteer or understeer? I don't think I've ever heard of understeering called sharp.

Subarus are pretty well known to understeer (plow) from the factory. Which, in my opinion, is frightening. The only option is to brake, and hopefully you don't offset the weight too much to start oversteering.

Sharp corner, is what I meant... I was going about 45 around a a 90* turn. The car didn't want to turn. So yes, it's plowed. Little tap on the breaks fixed it though.
