This morning at about 7am EDT at Winchester Hospital in Winchester Mass my Mother in Law passed after a week of unconsciousness.
She lived in Wichita, Kansas but was out in the Boston area visiting my wife's brother. Last Saturday they were driving home from dinner (she was scheduled to fly back to ICT on Sunday) when she passed out. She never regained consciousness (death was complications of emphysema and COPD).
She spent her last week with her son (whom she only sees once a year or so) seeing the sights, they went whale watching, she went to one of the casinos (her favorite past time) and won a little over $250. That final dinner was a big plate of shrimp (her favorite food) finished off with a nice dirty martini (her favorite cocktail).
While the family is sad, we're not all that shocked (she was old, she had lots of health issues). We are all comforted by the fact that she was living life to the fullest right up to the very end, and frankly you can't ask for better than that.
The take-away from all this is that we should all be so lucky as to die on vacation.
Gladys was 84 years old.![]()
